PROJECT OVERVIEW
UNDERSTANDING THE GLOBAL WATER CHALLENGE
The world is facing a major water shortage, the worst we've ever seen. This lack of water is harming both nature and people. Since water is limited, we all need to work together to use it wisely and for the long term.
4.3 billion of people face water scarcity in a few months of the years globally.
71%

Over two billion people live in countries where water supply is inadequate.
Some 700 million people could be displaced by intense water scarcity by 2030.
Half of the world’s population could be living in areas facing water scarcity by 2025.
IDEA
Imagine a journey where we get to the bottom of how households use water. We're talking about everyday habits and the things we might not even notice. In this case study, we're shining a light on the challenges we all face in saving water and how a smart idea can make a big difference. It's like a story—starting with the issues and ending with a innovative solution. Get ready to see how a simple app can change the game in saving water at home.
Problem Statement
India is facing a severe water crisis worsened by urbanization, industry, and climate change. Household water usage is a major contributor, demanding innovative solutions for conservation and sustainability.
AIM
This project aims to design user-friendly solutions, integrating smart water management apps with IoT devices, to monitor and optimize household water usage, thus mitigating water scarcity and promoting conservation in India.
Household Water Use
A Major Contributor to India's Water Crisis
Seasonal Variability:
In regions with seasonal water availability, households may not adequately store water during surplus periods, leading to scarcity during dry seasons.

No Water-saving Devices
Absence of Water-Efficient
Devices Fuels Higher Household
Water Use

Lack of Awareness:
Many households are unaware of the impact of their water usage habits on the overall water crisis.
Urbanization:
Rapid urbanization leads to increased demand for water for domestic purposes, further straining resources.

Groundwater Depletion:
Excessive extraction of groundwater for domestic use, especially in areas with limited access to piped water, contributes to groundwater depletion.

Population Growth:
Increasing population puts
additional pressure on water resources, especially in urban areas.

Leakage:
Unchecked leaks
in plumbing and fixtures
leading to water wastage.

Inequitable Access:
Inequitable access to water resources can lead to overuse or underuse in different households, affecting overall water availability.

Lack of Water-saving Devices:
Many households lack water-saving devices such as low-flow faucets, efficient toilets, and water-efficient appliances, leading to higher water consumption.

Wasteful Practices
Inefficient use of water for daily tasks like bathing, washing, and cleaning.
